…Tasks Candidates on Unity, Mobilisation as August 17 Election Draws Closer
BAUCHI — Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has rallied candidates and stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), charging them to close ranks, intensify grassroots mobilisation and work collectively towards securing victory in the August 17, 2026 local government elections.
Governor Bala Mohammed gave the charge during a strategic meeting with APM chairmanship candidates, their deputies, councillorship candidates and other key party stakeholders from across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State.
Coming barely nine days before the polls, the meeting was aimed at fine-tuning the party’s electoral strategy, strengthening coordination among candidates and stakeholders and consolidating grassroots support ahead of the crucial contest.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the party leadership to assess its preparedness and reinforce structures considered critical to translating APM’s growing political presence into electoral victory at the local government level.
Welcoming participants, the APM State Chairman, Auwal Isah, urged candidates, party leaders and supporters to intensify mobilisation and take the party’s programmes, vision and political message directly to voters across communities, wards and polling areas.
He stressed that every candidate and stakeholder has a responsibility to strengthen the party at the grassroots, describing the August 17 election as an important test of APM’s organisational strength and growing acceptance in Bauchi State.
According to him, victory in the local government elections would not only consolidate the party’s grassroots structures but also provide a formidable foundation for the larger political contests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Local Government Election Supervisory and Monitoring Committee, Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, challenged stakeholders to take their assignments seriously and work collectively towards achieving the party’s objectives.
He emphasised sustained engagement with voters, effective grassroots mobilisation and seamless collaboration among candidates, party leaders and supporters throughout the electioneering period.
The Speaker particularly stressed the importance of unity of purpose, discipline and teamwork, noting that internal cohesion remains indispensable to the party’s electoral success.
He urged members to put collective interest above individual considerations and approach the forthcoming polls with determination, vigilance and a shared commitment to strengthening APM across Bauchi State.
The strategic meeting underscores the party leadership’s determination to consolidate its structures across the 20 local government areas and deepen its presence at ward and community levels ahead of the August 17 polls.
With the election drawing closer, APM is intensifying mobilisation and internal coordination as it seeks to translate its grassroots structures into electoral victory and build momentum towards the 2027 general elections.
